NEWS
- There was massive relief for families in Vicarstown and Emo when it was confirmed that a 52-seater bus will be provided for school children traveling to schools in Portlaoise.
- Young students returned to school this week, some of whom were starting school for the first time. Our photographer visited Ballyadams NS and St Colman’s NS in Stradbally to capture the occasion.
- It was an historic occasion during the week as Holy Family school gates open to 1,400 students – we got a preview of the new facilities.
- There were many Electric Picnic stories this week as Stradbally prepared to welcome over 50,000 people. The organisers beefed up security this year with armed gardaí on site.
- Farmers were unhappy about the race to the bottom on milk prices. Top IFA officials held a protest in Portlaoise.
SPORTS
- LaoisToday revealed the identity of the next manager of Laois footballers. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive.

- During the week a Knockbeg student achieved an American athletics scholarship.
- Laois underage panels were all set to compete in prestigious hurling tournaments.
