Electric Picnic is to continue in Stradbally for another ten years.
Melvyn Benn, who is the festival director, informed media at the site this morning that Electric Picnic organisers have agreed a deal with the Cosby to continue until 2027.
The news comes as a massive boost to the wider Laois area and further cements Stradbally’s association with the Electric Picnic which it has hosted since 2004.
Over 60,000 concert-goers will descend on the ‘Little Town’ this weekend which has been a hive activity for the past couple of weeks.
Mr Benn also said that security has been increased at this year’s festival in light of world events, but promised that there will be no impact on festival goers. He also added that local Laois charities are to benefit more through initiatives over the coming years.

Local and national media were given a tour of the site this morning, entering the estate via a Steam Train courtesy of the Stradbally Steam Preservation Society and saw a number of the elements of the Electric Picnic including the Salty Dog, the main stage and the Red Bull Sound Dome.
Tullamore band Chasing Abbey performed on the main stage while there was a range of other attractions around the site also.
LaoisToday, having only been formed earlier this year, was represented at the Electric Picnic press day for the first time. Reporter David Power and photographer Julie Anne Miller covered the event and we will have massive coverage over the coming days – across a variety of platforms, including our website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat.
Make sure to say hello to us and we’ll get your photo and quite possibly even feature you on our Snapchat story.
