The award-winning annual kids archaeological dig returned to the Heritage House in Abbeyleix on Thursday 24 August as part of Heritage Week.
Over 30 children got to experience the thrill of making a discovery on an archaeological excavation on Thursday and again on Friday.
The children spent over an hour on each day digging up pottery, swords and other artefacts while learning about the lives of the people who would have used them.
Paula Maher is the manager of Heritage House Abbeyleix. She said the event was, “A great way to think about different things. It was a chance for children to go out and explore rather than be their phones.”
