As the Electric Picnic is just over a week away and because we love our lists here at LaoisToday, we thought we’d bring you a list of the best people to follow on Snapchat and Instagram who are involved in the Picnic.
The list includes musicians, DJs, foodies and comedians who will all be at the Picnic this year.
These people will be good to follow not only during the Picnic, but in the run up to it, and afterwards if you want to reminisce about the three days in Stradbally.
So without further ado, here is our list for the top people to follow on Snapchat and Instagram for the Electric Picnic.
Musicians
Annie Mac @anniemacdj
Annie Mac is certainly a great advocate for an amazing rave-filled summer-sessions life. This BBC DJ works hard and gives us all inside access to each set in locations like Ibiza, V Festival, and her very own festival, Annie Mac’s Lost and Found in Malta.
But prehaps what’s best about Dublin-born Annie is her laid back attitude and down to earth nature, which comes across on her social media accounts.
Pete Tong @petetongofficial
Pete Tong is one of the most influential people in dance music in the world and his incredibly long-titled act, ‘Pete Tong Presents Ibiza Classics Performed By The Heritage Orchestra Conducted by Jules Buckley’, is sure to get people feeling the summer dance vibes. To see another insight into the world of one of the top DJ’s, Pete’s Instagram won’t disappoint.
Giggs: Instagram @officialgiggs
Snapchat @ttbw3
The English rapper is taking over the world of grime and it feels like he is forever on the crest of a wave. His Instagram is a mixture of gigs (excuse the poor pun), social awareness and memes-the best kind of mixture. He is sure to give a groundbreaking performance at EP this year with his stage presence alone.
Rusangano Family @rusanganofamily
Rusangano Family are well past the ‘up and coming’ title. The Limerick city based Hip Hop trio make incredible beats with socially engaged lyrics and are an act you will want to say you followed all along.
Humans of the Sesh: Instagram @humansoftheseshofficial
Nearly every young Irish person has heard of the legendary Humans of the Sesh. It is a parody of the well-known Humans if New York, and introduces you to fictional, gas ‘characters’ you’re bound to meet on a night out.
The social media sensation from Cork have turned into a live act and will be giving a live show, or ‘After Sesh’ at ‘After Dark in the Hazel Wood’ on Sunday night. Get ready to see these two lads play absolute tunes.
Jack Revill @jackmaster
Another DJ to the list, Jackmaster has not forgotten his background and his Instagram is full of his life adventures, from Glasgow to Ibiza. Have a look at his account for kilts, club bangers and Celtic references.
The Strypes @the_strypes_official
The Strypes are back and bigger than ever in 2017. Their Instagram photos of Sziget and Santa Maria will definitely get you hyped up for Electric Picnic and hoping the weather is the same as it was there, too.
The Blizzards @theblizzardsie
How could we not mention the Blizzards? The Irish chart toppers are incredible performers in their own right and have shared stage with musical heavy weights like Oasis, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy and AC/DC. They also keep their fans updated regularly on social media and we’re not complaining about a photo or two of Bressie.
Comicial genuises
Al Porter @alportercomic
The outrageous and outrageously funny Tallaght man will be taking to the Comedy Stage and jokingly slag the himself, the audience, and modern day events in general.
Ryan Cullen @ryancullen90
Ryan can be described as the Irish champion of dark wit and intelligent one-liners. His act will make you laugh into the abyss, and reconsider how dark your sense of humour actually is. The comedian has performed in top-class international arenas including the Vodafone Comedy Festival, Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Laura Byrne @Lolsybyrne
Laura Byrne is a Dublin-based comedian who is constantly covered in cat hair. She has appeared on comedy stages across Ireland and further afield, and is one of the stars of the Irish viral YouTube channel Facts. In the past 12 months she has performed at Longitude, the Galway Comedy Carnival, and Forbidden Fruit, and was the winner of Show Me the Funny 2017.
Joanne McNally: Instagram @joannemcnalls
Snapchat @joanne_mcnally
Joanne might be most well-known for her appearances on the Republic of Telly, the agony aunt on The Chris and Ciara Show and her weekly Mack The Week slot on 2FM, but this comedienne is rocking the standup scene in Ireland. Her one woman show was a sell out and her depreciating humour always receives a room of laughs.
Foil, Arms and Hog @foilarmsandhog
These lovable scamps have racked up nine million YouTube hits and for good reason. Their comedy sketches will have you in the stitches as they poke fun at everything, from the Dublin accent to political correctness gone mad. Their day-to-day pics are filled with humourous observations too.
For the foodies
Rosanna Davidson: Instagram @rosanna_davidson
Snapchat @rosiedavidson
Model and food personality Rosanna gives access to all parts of her life, from attending stunning VIP events to cuddling up with her husband Wes and their two adorable pooches. Watch in envy and awe of her amazingly wardrobe and near perfect skin.
The Happy Pear: @thehappypear
Stephen and David Flynn started the The Happy Pear to inspire people to eat and live healthier lives and their ideas (and recipes) have taken the nation by storm. The two brothers will be at the Theatre of Food cooking up a storm during the weekend.
Kelly Lou Cakes @kellyloucakes
Not an account to follow if you’re considering going on a diet. Kelly will be at the Picnic with her baked goods treats which always draws a crowd. Sometimes a five minute hot chocolate and cupcake break is all you need for energy to rave into the night.
Takashi Miyazaki @miyazaki_cork
This Japanese restaurant and take-away has been hailed as ‘the best street food I’ve had inside and outside of Japan’ by novelist David Mitchell. Takashi will be at the Theatre of Food and his Instagram is full of beautifully plated pics that will leave you craving Japanese food.
Kevin Thorton @kevinthorton5
Kevin Thorton may have the most aesthetically pleasing Instagram in this list. He ran the scintillating Dublin restaurant, Thornton’s, which is only Irish Restaurant ever to feature in the World’s Top 50 Restaurants. Kevin is also an avivd photographer and travels regularly.
Aileen Cox Burnell @babyledfeeding
This account is definitely one for all you mums or mums-to-be out there. Aileen is a mother of three who makes healthy yet incredible food and snacks for babies and toddlers. Her book, Baby-Led Feeding, is a number-one best seller.
Electric Picnic: @epfestival
Last but certainly not least, what would be a better account to follow for the Electric Picnic than the actual Electric Picnic?! For all the info and absolutely unreal pictures of all the stages, this account is one to keep for looking back and reminiscing about the magical weekend and the see throwbacks from Picnic from years ago.
