The Mark Attride Memorial Cycle will take place next month and ahead of that, a quiz night will be held to raise funds.
Taking place on Friday August 25, the quiz will be held in the Glenside in Killeshin at 8pm.
The cost of entry for a table of four is €40 with all proceeds raised shared between the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association and St Clare’s Hospitality Food Kitchen.
Mark lost his battle with Motor Neuron Disease in November 2015.
He was a lecturer in IT Carlow and was heavily involved in the local sports scene.
He was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in February of 2014 and he orgainsed a major fundraiser that year where almost €50,000 for the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association was raised.
Stephen Attride, Mark’s son, who was also the captain of the Laois senior football team this year, is hoping a big crowd turn out to support the worthy cause.
He said: “Hopefully we have a big turnout on the night.
“It’s a brilliant cause and all the funds raised will be going towards two very worthy charities.”
The Mark Attride memorial cycle, now in its second year, will take place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 of September. The cost of taking part in this cycle will be €200.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact Killeshin Wheelers Cycling Club as soon as possible and pay a deposit of €50 to secure a place.
We have booked accommodation for 47 cyclists so the first 47 to pay the deposit will be allowed to participate.
You don’t have to be a member of the club to take part.
