Laois Today columnist, current affairs commentator and media adviser John Whelan is back on the air this week.
He slots in to the hot seat in place of Will Faulkner on Midlands 103 each morning from 9am, from this Tuesday until Friday. The popular award winning Midlands Today programme runs from 9am to 11am each weekday during the summer.
“While we are in the depths of what media people call the ‘silly season’ throughout August we have lots of interesting items and interviews lined up for next week, with our producer, Sinead Hubble at the helm,” says John.
“We are living in interesting and turbulent times … and that’s before you even consider the blood, sweat and tears looming with back-to-school just around the corner. But we have the Electric Picnic to look forward to first, so there will be plenty to discuss and debate in what is also National Heritage Week, so do tune in.
“Will Faulkner is really well established and really good at what he does anchoring this flagship programme and while up against some heavy hitters like Sean O’Rourke and Pat Kenny, he is more than holding his own, with a strong and loyal listenership, so I am really looking forward to doing a good job for the station and the audience who tune in to Midlands 103 every morning.
“While you can plan and prepare as much as you want, radio is exciting because it’s live and in the moment, so who knows what the week will bring, so do tune in,” added John who writes his regular column for LaoisToday under his Wired with Whelan banner.
