An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a number of foreign nationals in the back of a truck which was stopped outside the graveyard in Stradbally this evening.
It has been reported that the truck driver pulled over on the N80 near Stradbally and alerted gardaí to noises coming from the rear of the truck shortly after 5pm.
On opening the container, Gardai found a number of people inside.
There are conflicting reports on the amount of people that were discovered, but we understand that there were three males, two females and one child on board.
It’s understood they had been in a chilled truck for three days.
The individuals had been travelling from France but driver of the truck is Irish.
The National Ambulance Service dispatched a number of ambulances to the scene and they were joined by up to five squad cars.
The individuals were then taken to hospital as a precaution.
