Crettyard man Pa O’ Reilly was recently selected as an escort for this year’s Rose of Tralee.
Pa will be heading down to Tralee to meet the Roses on Tuesday 15 August.
Carpenter Pa is a keen sportsman and plays soccer and midfield for Crettyard in Gaelic football. But in two weeks time he will hang up the spirit level and football boots for a dicky bow and tuxedo.
“I just see the Rose of Tralee on every year and thought it might be good craic to enter as an escort,” said Pa.

Pa was interviewed in Maynooth for the role. He then went to a bootcamp in Kerry and showed his mountclimbing and kayaking skills along with the 64 other Rose Escorts.
Pa won’t know what Rose he will be paired up with until he meets them but is certainly looking forward to getting down to Tralee.
“I can’t wait. I suppose the main thing is to help them (the Roses) with anything they need. Then just stay in the background after that,” he said.
Crettyard line out against Clonaslee in the Senior Football championship next week. If they win, they’ll be out the weekend of 26 August, which Pa will be just back for.
Pa recently made it into LaoisToday’s Top 25 Snapchatters and as he heads down to Tralee, his snapchat is sure to get even more exciting from here on in.
