A total of €10,000 was raised for the Irish Cancer Society at the fashion extravaganza in the Manor Hotel, Abbeyleix, at the weekend.
1,000 pre-owned bags and dresses were donated and sold over the three-day event from Friday 28 to Sunday 30.
The event was extremely well-attended and had a number of expert speakers including top-blogger Gail Murphy from Gail’s Rails.
Organiser of the event Pamela Moran said the idea started off because her friend asked her for a loan of a dress one day. “I hadn’t worn the dress in years and thought I could do something with this,” she said.
Pamela is the owner of Ego Boost Hair Salon. When clients heard about the event, they would donate their own items and soon they had 1,000 items for sale.
Pamela chose to support the Irish Cancer Society as it is an organisation very close to her heart. “It’s very hard to see clients, our friends for years, coming in after having gone through cancer and chemotherapy,” said Pamela.
She thanked everyone involved in the event. She said, “From the volunteers and sponsors to people who came on the night, so many people just wanted to help.”
The €10,000 cheque will be presented to the Irish Cancer Society in the next few weeks.
