The N80 at Twomilebridge in Mountmellick is closed following a road traffic accident.
An ESB pole is currently down on the road and there has also been an oil spill.
Thankfully, Gardai say that there are no serious injuries to report as yet.
An ambulance came upon the scene and offered medical assistance.
Gardaí say they expect the road to remain closed until around 11.30am.
