Two men appeared in Portlaoise District Court yesterday charged with the robbery at Mountrath Post Office on July 5.
The pair are also charged with the attempted robbery of Enfield Post Office on the same day.
Both were arrested and detained at Portlaoise Garda Station over the previous number of days.
During the course of the operation, a firearm was recovered also.
Both have been remanded in custody.
