Over 100 houses remain without electricity in Laois this morning due to what is described by ESB as essential maintenance works.
A statement from ESB states: “We apologise for the loss of supply. We are carrying out essential improvement / maintenance works in your area and will restore power as quickly as possible”.
It is estimated the power will not return until 5 pm this evening according to ESB.
This loss of supply is currently affecting 104 houses.
Timahoe resident, former senator, John Whelan says power has been out since 5.30 am, without any warning.

A number of residents in Mountmellick were also without a power supply this morning due to a power line fault.
“We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible,” ESB said in relation to this interruption.
A total of 36 houses in Mountmellick are without power due to this fault.
