It was an emotional farewell to Ballylinan’s for Fran Moloney on Friday as he retired after almost 30 years as principal of St Patrick’s primary school.
It goes without question that Mr Moloney was a very well liked and respected teacher as the whole village of Ballylinan came together on Friday evening.
Past and present pupils, teachers, parents, the GAA community, and the local community gathered in their hundreds to see Mr.Moloney out with a night he will never forget.
The school walls were covered with goodbye posters, and pictures that were creatively made by the students.
There was a mass held in honour of Mr Moloney followed by celebrations in the school after.
Mr Moloney made a moving speech thanking his family, colleagues, pupils, and the community of Ballylinan for everything through the years. “I am humbled by the generosity and kindness of the staff, students, and the school community.”
We travelled to Ballylinan to capture some of the atmosphere at St.Patricks primary school.
