Bloom, the hugely popular garden festival, takes place in the Phoenix Park in the first week in June.
Ahead of the event, the organisers have released a lovely video featuring Laois woman Lily Champ. It was filmed by Jack Caffrey and in it Lily, who lives near Portarlington and is a renowned gardener, tells how she “hasn’t an ache or pain” and “has never bought a head of cabbage” in her life – she grows all her own.
“If it wasn’t for the garden, I don’t know what I’d do,” she says.
The veteran gardening expert writes a regular column in the Irish Farmers Journal.
She will be at Bloom next month.
