Gardai met severe resistance and violence at Clonrooske in Portlaoise last week as they recovered a caravan stolen from Crettyard a couple of days earlier.
The Night Star caravan, valued at €1500, was stolen from a house in Doonane Terrace in Crettyard between 12noon and 7pm on Sunday, May 14.
On Tuesday, the Gardai had a warrant to search a premises in Clonrooske but met considerable resistance by three males. The Gardai were forced to deploy pepper spray and one of the three was arrested, detained and later charged with handling stolen property.
The man, who is in his 20s, has been bailed to Portlaoise District Court on June 8.
