A Wednesday morning in Parklane Interiors in Portarlington and Cathy Rogers and Mary Slevin are all go, busy marking down the price of stock.
Parklane Interiors celebrates 10 years in business this week and to celebrate they’re offering 30% off everything in store.
“Absolutely everything,” says Cathy with a laugh. “That’s very unusual for a sale but there’s 30% off everything for the next ten days.”
Cathy and Mary worked for years in KWS prior to it closing down and they opened Parklane Interiors – stocking every item of household furniture you could possibly think of. Beds, mattresses, rugs, soft furnishings, giftware, pictures, mirrors and the “largest selection of lamps in the midlands”.
“You can furnish a full house from here. And there’s nothing we can’t get – if we don’t have something in stock we’ll get it for you.”
Initially they had a premises in the centre of town – but for the best part of the last seven years they’ve been on the Link Road, right beside SuperValu, with ample parking at the front and back.
A family-run business, they’re one of the main suppliers of beds and mattresses around. “All our mattresses are Irish made and from Irish companies – that is important to us,” says Cathy.
And as a small business they aim to go that bit extra further for their customers.
“Unlike chain stores we’ll take a deposit on any item and you can pay off weekly,” adds Cathy. “Just because something is €600 doesn’t mean you’ve to pay €600 up front. You can pay €50 a week.” There’s also a delivery service.
Parklane Interiors is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5.30pm. They also open every Bank Holiday Monday from 12pm-5pm.
The 30% off sale begins on Thursday, May 4, and runs until Saturday, May 13. They will also be open from 12noon to 5pm on Sunday, May 7.
