It was another busy week in LaoisToday and once again we have really enjoyed bringing you all the important news stories.
From serious news, to local sport or something that sparks a conversation or debate, we like to think we can offer something to interest everyone.
There were so many stories over the past week, but here is just a selection of the items featured on our website in the past week.
News
- There was an upbeat prognosis from the delegation of GPs and consultants when they met Minister Simon Harris on the future plans for Portlaoise hospital.
- Age proved no barrier for Kathleen Bolger, who is 101 years young, when she launched the Bulfin Heritage Cycle Rally. Read about he plans here.
- News that a garda was kicked in the face and resulting in an eye injury caused shock. A woman was arrested following the incident.
Sport
- The switch to midfield is case of pastures new for Ross King and its fair to say he is enjoying it. ‘Like a spring bullock getting out to fresh grass’ was his exact description.
- News that an Armagh all Ireland winner is part of the Laois backroom team was weclomed. Oisin McConville has linked up the Laois hurlers.
- As if winning the Irish Grand National wasn’t enough, the Cooper family from Coolrain were aiming for further glory at Punchestown.
We are Laois
- It was one of the most memorable years of her life. Laois Rose Kate Hyland admitted she will be emotional when her successor is chosen on Sunday night in the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel.
- Watch: Three Irish mammies headed to Amsterdam for the Facts Youtube channel to check out the coffee houses. One of the three mothers who smoked weed for the first time was from Laois, and the results were hilarious.
