Thousands of people turned up in Portlaoise this afternoon for the St Patrick’s Day parade, despite the threat of wet weather hanging over the county all day.
There were representatives from a wide range of groups from the Portlaoise region – including various schools of dancing, sports clubs and community groups.
There was also groups representing the Lithuanian and Nigerian communities in Portlaoise as well as businesses and charity groups like the PATH (Portlaoise Action to Homelessness Group).
Noel Tuohy acted as MC for the parade from the viewing stand in the top square and there was a range of activities around the town throughout the afternoon.
