Aldi plans to extend its store in Portarlington with planning permission being sought for the development.
A planning notice has been published by the discount foodstore for development at the existing Aldi store on Main Street in the town.
The development will consist of an extension of the existing single storey discount foodstore, including off-licence use, by 264 sq metres on the western elevation and minor extension on the northern elevation by 22 sq metres to provide an ancillary meeting room.
The gross floor area of the store will increase from 1, 460 sq metres of to 1746 sq metres.
The proposed development includes a new canopy to replace the existing one, a new store entrance arrangement, a new illuminated double board poster sign towards the entrance lobby.
There will also be minor changes to the car parking spaces from 94 to 100 as well as landscaping on the 0.89 hectare site.
