It was another busy week in LaoisToday and once again we were delighted to bring you some great local stories.
Whether it’s serious news, local sport or something that gets you talking or makes you laugh, we like to think we can offer something for everyone.
There are so many to pick from but here’s just a small sample of of our favourite stories from the past week.
News
- A reckless driver decided to drive straight through the barrier in a car park instead of paying the fee. It didn’t work out too well.
- There was a lot of interest in the new pub that opened its doors in the Fairgreen in Portlaoise
- News of a Portlaoise family to appear on Gogglebox Ireland proved incredibly popular
Sport
- The Laois U-21 footballers got the better of Louth in the Leinster championship quarter-final. Manager Gary Kavanagh was a happy man when he spoke to LaoisToday after the game
- We picked our top 10 GAA grounds in Laois. Not everyone agreed.
We are Laois
- Mark O’Brien, now living in Canada, was a brilliant interview in the Laois Abroad section. Any man that has personalised car registration plates reading ‘Abbeyleix’ has to be worth reading a bit more about.
- Our Wedding Story featured Chantelle Murphy and Rory Coss this week. A great story and some beautiful photos.
Columnists
- Fr Paddy’s emotive piece on Tuam babies scandal is required reading.
- A completely different topic but the Two Broke Divas had another very good column this week. Do you know what a wiggle dress is? Well, we do now.
