Welcome, welcome, every one.
Delighted that LaoisToday.ie site is now live. We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible response on social media, breaking over 3,000 likes in less than two weeks on Facebook alone.
LaoisToday is a new quality, lively, fun, multimedia news service for the Laois community at home and abroad.
It’ll be exclusively online and exclusively local and as well as a responsive website, we’ll have apps for Android and iOS to be launched in the coming weeks.
We’ll be backing Laois businesses, Laois communities and Laois people and standing up for Laois as a county in general.
Already we’re very proud of that fact that all our business to date has been done in Laois.
The website has been designed by Eamon Donovan from Portlaoise and his team in Modus. Our graphic design has been done by Mike McCarthy in Creactive Studios in Mountmellick. We have used Quality Printers in Portlaoise and our promotional merchandise is from Darren Strong and DS Sports in Emo.
We have an excellent team of journalists who have experience in the local and national media. As well as that we have a team of columnists from around the county representing a wide range of interests.
It is the media’s job to tell stories and on LaoisToday we’ll be telling stories in many different ways – through written pieces, audio, visual and video packages.
So far it has been exciting, busy, enjoyable and scary experience all in one.
As a county Laois has a lot to be proud of – our people, our history, our festivals, our sports, our scenery, our location, our future.
LaoisToday will be reflective of that as the only locally-owned media outlet in the county we’ll be supportive of Laois people wherever they are in the world.
Thanks for your support to date and we hope you’ll be a visitor to LaoisToday for many years to come.
Steven, Emily, William and all the team at LaoisToday.
