Ballacolla took a big step towards winning Division 3 of the Kilkenny League, thanks to a 3-0 win over neighbours Clover Utd B on Sunday afternoon.
Ballacolla had to wait until the 65th minute before they broke the deadlock through Mick Dunphy but Danny Hanlon got two – the second from the penalty spot – to ensure all three points.
They play Deen Celtic of Castlecomer in their final game and know that a win will clinch league glory.
Elsewhere, in the Kilkenny League, Rathdowney’s Clover Utd remain in contention for promotion from Division 1 following a 2-1 win over Deen Celtic on Sunday morning. Their goals came from Shane Bowe and Ray Bowe and with two league games remaining they stay in the hunt to go up, albeit having played two games more than today’s opponents.
Durrow side Lions AFC drew 1-1 against Fort Rangers in the same division with Michael Dooley on target.
